Common questions
Where can I schedule a DOT physical?
DOTPHYS connects drivers with Carolina Testing clinics in Conway, Florence and Georgetown, South Carolina. Select your preferred clinic to view its appointment calendar.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Bring your driver’s license or other photo ID, a current medication list, and any glasses, contact lenses or hearing aids you use. Contact the clinic before your visit if you have medical records or forms that may be needed for your examination.
What happens during the examination?
The medical examiner reviews your health history and completes the required examination, including vision and hearing checks, blood pressure measurement and urine testing. The examiner may request additional information based on your individual medical history.
Does booking an appointment guarantee a medical certificate?
No. Booking reserves an appointment. The medical examiner determines whether you meet the applicable qualification standards and whether additional information is needed.
How long can a DOT medical certificate last?
A certificate may be issued for up to 24 months. A shorter certification period may apply based on the medical examiner’s findings and applicable requirements.
